Program Description
The Bachelor’s Degree Program in Management Information Systems at the University of Mosul is a four-year program comprising 240 credits and is aligned with the Bologna Process. The program provides students with the technical and managerial knowledge and skills required to analyze, design, develop, implement, and manage information systems within organizations. It also covers decision support systems, digital transformation, information security, strategic and financial information systems, and human resource management.
Graduates of the department are distinguished by combining managerial and technical backgrounds, enabling them to effectively utilize technology in various fields of management and administrative sciences.
To achieve these objectives, computer laboratories have been established and are used for teaching information technology applications, office automation systems, relevant programming languages, databases, electronic communications and networks, and other related areas. Program Objectives
- 1. Preparing skilled specialists in Management Information System in the organization.
- Preparing educational curricula according to international standards in the field of Management Information Systems.
- Supporting the scientific output of the academic staff and improving their abilities in different academic activities.
- Providing a continuous training program for the workers to improve their performance in the organizations of the private and public sectors in the field of Management Information Systems.
- Meeting the minimum graduation requirements in accordance with the regulations of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research and the University of Mosul.
- Successfully completing all practical requirements of the program, including laboratories, summer/field training, course projects, and the graduation project, where applicable.
- Complying with all academic regulations governing assessment, academic progression, and graduation, as approved by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research and the University of Mosul.

Awarded Qualification
Upon successful completion of all academic program requirements, graduates are awarded a Bachelor’s Degree in Management Information Systems from the University of Mosul.
Qualification Level
The program is classified at Level 6 of the Iraqi National Qualifications Framework (INQF), or its equivalent, in accordance with the regulations and guidelines issued by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research (MOHESR).
Special Admission Requirements
Admission to the Bachelor’s Degree Program in Management Information Systems is governed by the admission regulations and policies of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research and the University of Mosul. Applicants must meet the approved admission criteria for the Management Information Systems Program at the College of Administration and Economics.
Qualification Requirements and Regulations
To obtain a Bachelor’s Degree in Management Information Systems, students must successfully fulfill all graduation requirements, including:
- Successfully completing all 240 European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System (ECTS) credits, including all compulsory and elective courses specified in the curriculum.
- Meeting the minimum graduation requirements in accordance with the regulations of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research and the University of Mosul.

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)
Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) and the transfer of academic credits are considered only in cases of student transfer or course equivalency, in accordance with the regulations and instructions issued by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research.
Program Learning Outcomes (PLOs)
Upon completion of the Bachelor’s Degree Program in Management Information Systems, graduates are expected to achieve the following Program Learning Outcomes (PLOs) or Graduate Outcomes (GOs), which describe the knowledge, skills, and professional competencies required upon graduation:

GO6: Design and develop high-quality Management Information Systems that meet the needs of organizations in local and regional labor markets.
GO7: Effectively employ computerized systems to analyze and evaluate Management Information Systems.
GO8: Utilize diverse and contemporary methods and techniques for analyzing and designing appropriate Management Information Systems to enhance the effectiveness and efficiency of organizational processes and improve their performance.

Examination, Assessment, and Grading Regulations
The Bachelor’s Degree Program in Management Information Systems adopts the examination, assessment, and grading regulations approved by the Iraqi Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research and the University of Mosul. Student performance is assessed through a variety of continuous and final assessment methods to ensure the achievement of the intended learning outcomes. These include:
- Continuous assessment, including quizzes, assignments, classroom participation, and practical activities.
- Midterm examinations.
- Final examinations.
- Practical and laboratory reports for practical and computer-based courses.
- Applied projects, case studies, and information systems analysis and design projects.
- Summer training in relevant governmental or private institutions.
- Presentations and scientific seminars.
- Assessment of the graduation project.
- Compliance with academic integrity regulations and institutional policies concerning cheating, plagiarism, and academic misconduct, in accordance with the instructions of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research and the University of Mosul.
Graduation Requirements
To be eligible for the Bachelor’s Degree in Management Information Systems (B.MIS.), students must successfully fulfill all graduation requirements in accordance with the regulations of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research and the University of Mosul, including:
- Completing 240 credits under the European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System (ECTS) and successfully passing all compulsory and elective courses specified in the study plan.
- Achieving the required minimum Grade Point Average (GPA) and fulfilling all other graduation requirements in accordance with the applicable regulations.
- Successfully completing the graduation project and the required summer training.
- Fulfilling all necessary academic and administrative requirements for the award of the Bachelor’s Degree in Management Information Systems (B.MIS.).
Mode of Study
The Bachelor’s Degree Program in Management Information Systems is a full-time four-year academic program offered in accordance with the Bologna Process and consists of 240 European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System (ECTS) credits. The program adopts a student-centered educational approach that integrates theoretical lectures, practical applications, and summer field training. Students are also trained in information systems design software and database development.
Program Coordinator
The Bachelor’s Degree Program Coordinator in Management Information Systems is responsible for the overall coordination, implementation, and continuous improvement of the Bachelor’s Degree Program in Management Information Systems. The coordinator’s role includes overseeing the implementation of the curriculum, monitoring the achievement of Graduate Outcomes (GOs), coordinating academic activities among faculty members and students, supervising practical training activities, and ensuring alignment with the University of Mosul’s quality assurance policies, the regulations of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, and the program accreditation requirements.
The Program Coordinator also supports the review and development of the curriculum to ensure that the program remains up to date with developments in Management Information Systems and meets the needs of the labor market in both the public and private sectors.
