A Master’s Thesis in the Department of Economics Discusses “Measuring and Analyzing the Impact of Foreign Aid on the Economic Performance of Selected Countries” Thursday, April 24, 2025…

The Department of Economics at the College of Administration and Economics, University of Mosul, discussed a master’s thesis entitled “Measuring and Analyzing the Impact of Foreign Aid on the Economic Performance of Selected Countries.”

Part of the thesis was attended by the Dean of the College, Professor Dr. Sinan Zuhair Muhammad, and his assistants for academic and administrative affairs.

The current study, presented by student Daham Jassim Khader in the Department of Economics, aimed to: identify the nature of foreign aid and economic performance through economic literature based on economic theory, and explore the theoretical relationship between them by analyzing the actual data of the sample countries.

The study reached the following key conclusions: It was found that foreign aid has a negative and significant impact, in both the short and long term, on the budget deficit in the sample countries, with the exception of Tunisia, where the impact was insignificant among foreign aid.

The discussion committee was headed by Professor Dr. Thaeir Mahmoud Rashid Al-Ani from the University of Baghdad, and the membership of Professor Dr. Saad Mahmoud Khalil Al-Kawaz, and Assistant Professor Dr. Abdullah Khader Abtan, under the supervision and membership of Assistant Professor Dr. Rabah Jamil Saad Al-Din.
