The Department of Business Administration – College of Administration and Economics at the University of Mosul Discusses a Master’s Thesis on Ethical Climate and Its Impact on Reducing Organizational Nepotism

The Department of Business Administration at the College of Administration and Economics, University of Mosul, held the defense of a Master’s thesis on Thursday, February 26, 2026, entitled: “The Reflection of Ethical Climate Dimensions in Reducing Organizational Nepotism: A Survey Study at the University of Mosul.”
The thesis was submitted by the student Shaimaa Zaki Abdulilyas Al-Hashemi and was defended in Discussion Hall No. (1).
The study aimed to highlight the role of the ethical climate, with its five dimensions (instrumental, independence, caring, law, and rules) as an independent variable, in reducing organizational nepotism as a dependent variable, represented by its three dimensions (in-group bias, paternalistic nepotism, and reciprocal interests) at the University of Mosul.
The study reached several important findings, most notably the existence of statistically significant correlation and impact relationships between the ethical climate variable and organizational nepotism in the researched universities. These results emphasize the importance of reinforcing ethical values within the university environment to reduce manifestations of nepotism and enhance organizational justice.
