The Department of Industrial Management at the College of Administration and Economics, University of Mosul, Discusses a Higher Diploma Thesis on Lean Maintenance and Product Quality

The Department of Industrial Management at the College of Administration and Economics at University of Mosul held a thesis defense on Tuesday, March 17, 2026, in Discussion Hall No. (1) for a Higher Diploma research entitled:
“The Role of Lean Maintenance in Improving Product Quality.”
The thesis was presented by the student Sufyan Salem Mohammed Sheet.
The study aimed to identify the role of lean maintenance dimensions in improving product quality at Badoush Cement Plant. This comes in light of the variation in product quality levels and the need to adopt an integrated managerial approach that contributes to reducing equipment failures, minimizing unplanned downtime, and improving the efficiency of production processes.
The study highlighted several key findings, most notably:
The importance of adopting lean maintenance as an integrated managerial philosophy.
Enhancing the implementation of reliability-centered maintenance and developing maintenance information systems.
Investing in the training and empowerment of human resources to improve product quality and strengthen the plant’s long-term competitive capability.
The thesis defense committee consisted of:
