A Quantum Leap in Scientific Publishing and Academic Performance Development… College of Administration and Economics at the University of Mosul Continues Meetings to Map Out Priorities for the Coming Phase

The College of Administration and Economics at the University of Mosul held a series of its ongoing regular meetings, chaired by the Dean of the College, Professor Dr. Sinan Zuhair Mohammed Jamil, and attended by the Associate Deans, Heads of Scientific Departments, several heads of relevant administrative divisions and units, and the manager of the college’s website. The meetings aimed to follow up on a number of academic and administrative files that represent essential pillars in the journey of institutional development and enhancing the quality of university performance.

During the meetings, emphasis was placed on adherence to the instructions of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research regarding publishing in reputable international repositories. They also followed up on the implementation of the plan prepared by the college deanship since the beginning of the academic year 2025–2026, which aims to publish at least one scientific research paper for each faculty member during the academic year, provided that it is an original research paper not extracted from university theses or dissertations. Additionally, they reconfirmed the requirement of publishing in the Scopus repository as a fundamental prerequisite before the defense of doctoral dissertations.

The indicators reviewed during the meetings showed a remarkable development in the volume of scientific publishing. The number of research papers published in international repositories rose from only (3) research papers during the period from January 1 to July 1, 2025, to (31) research papers during the same period of 2026. This reflects the effectiveness of the continuous follow-up led by the college deanship, in cooperation with the heads of scientific departments and research groups, to establish a culture of scientific research and enhance the quality of academic production.

The attendees also discussed the distribution of the teaching load for the academic year 2026–2027, and the proposed titles for Master’s theses and Doctoral dissertations, in line with ministerial regulations and keeping pace with labor market needs. This was in addition to monitoring the workflow in the Student Information System (SIS) for undergraduate and postgraduate studies, and addressing challenges that might affect the speed of completing procedures and improving administrative performance efficiency.

Furthermore, the meetings touched upon completing the preparations for the central graduation oath ceremony for undergraduate students, scheduled to be held on Thursday, July 23, 2026, at the Dr. Mahmoud Al-Jalili Hall. They also discussed the organizational and scientific preparations for the college’s scientific conference, scheduled to take place on December 23–24, 2026, to enhance research activity and establish the college’s position as one of the leading academic institutions in supporting quality, innovation, and scientific excellence.
