PhD Dissertation in Economics: Measuring and Analyzing the Impact of Fiscal and Monetary Policies on Unemployment and Poverty

The Department of Economics at the College of Administration and Economics, University of Mosul, discuss on Wednesday, June 26, 2025, a PhD dissertation titled “Measuring and Analyzing the Impact of Fiscal and Monetary Policies on Unemployment and Poverty Indicators in Selected Countries.”
Study Objectives:
The dissertation, submitted by student Saeed Shakir Hameed, aimed to explore how fiscal and monetary policies can play an effective and distinctive role in alleviating the phenomena of unemployment and poverty. The study focused on the hypothesis that implementing a monetary policy targeted at price stability could curb excessive inflation, thereby contributing to overall economic stability.
Key Findings:
The study reached several important conclusions, the most notable being that achieving economic goals such as price stability and growth requires an optimal mix of integrated policies that support each other. This integration is essential to ensure high and sustainable economic growth. The study also emphasized that unemployment and poverty remain among the most complex challenges faced by policymakers in Iraq.
