A Master’s Thesis in the Department of Economics Discusses “The Impact of Human Capital on Economic Growth in Selected Middle Eastern and North African Countries for the Period (1990–2021)”

The Department of Economics at the College of Administration and Economics, University of Mosul, held on Thursday, July 10, 2025 a discussion of the master’s thesis titled “The Impact of Human Capital on Economic Growth in Selected Middle Eastern and North African Countries for the Period (1990–2021).”

The session was attended in part by the Dean of the College, Professor Dr. Sinan Zuhair Mohammed Jameel, along with the two Assistant Deans for Scientific and Administrative Affairs.

The current study, presented by the student Yusuf Hussein Mohammed Yusuf in the Department of Economics, aimed to analyze and measure the impact of human capital on economic growth in selected Middle Eastern and North African (MENA) countries.

The study concluded with several findings, the most important of which is that there is a stable long-term relationship between real GDP per capita and human capital (measured by average years of schooling).

The discussion committee was chaired by Professor Dr. Dina Ahmed Omar from the Northern Technical University / Technical Administrative College, and included Associate Professor Dr. Ibrahim Adeeb Ibrahim, Associate Professor Dr. Alaa Wajih Mahdi, and supervised by and included Associate Professor Dr. Nizar Sadiq Elias as a member.
