Awareness Lecture at the College of Administration and Economics, University of Mosul, on the Causes and Effects of Drug Abuse as Part of the Iraqi Anti-Drug Week

Under the patronage of the President of the University of Mosul, Prof. Dr. Waheed Mahmood Al-Ibrahimi, and under the supervision of the Dean of the College of Administration and Economics, Prof. Dr. Sinan Zuheir Mohammed Jameel, the Department of Financial and Banking Sciences, in cooperation with the University Psychological Counseling Unit and in coordination with the Directorate of Narcotics and Psychotropic Substances Affairs / Nineveh, organized an awareness lecture titled:
“Drug Abuse: Causes and Effects,” held as part of the 2025 Iraqi Anti-Drug Week activities.
The lecture took place on Tuesday, November 18, 2025, at 11:00 AM in Discussion Hall No. (2). It was delivered by Colonel Abdullah Ali Saleh, who presented the main motives behind drug abuse, as well as the severe health, social, and psychological consequences it has on individuals and society. He also discussed the latest approved mechanisms for combating and preventing drug abuse.
The lecture was attended by a number of faculty members and students, whose engagement enriched the discussion and raised important questions regarding the role of educational institutions in promoting community awareness and limiting the spread of this phenomenon.
