Master’s Thesis at the College of Basic Education on “The Grammatical Structures of the Root (N-B-ʾ) and Its Derivatives in the Holy Qur’an”

The College of Basic Education at the University of Mosul discussed a Master’s thesis entitled “The Grammatical Structures of the Root (N-B-ʾ) and Its Derivatives in the Holy Qur’an” on Wednesday, June 17, 2026, in Umm Al-Rabeeain Hall at the College.

The thesis, submitted by the student Fidaa Suleiman Mohammed Noor from the Department of Arabic Language, aimed to investigate the grammatical structures associated with the root (N-B-ʾ) and its derivatives in the Holy Qur’an, identify their structural patterns, and clarify the grammatical meanings and functions they convey within the Qur’anic context.

The study addressed several topics, including the grammatical structures of nominative nouns derived from the root (N-B-ʾ) and its derivatives, the grammatical structures of accusative nouns, the grammatical structures of genitive nouns, as well as the grammatical structures of the verbs derived from the root and its derivatives as they occur in the Holy Qur’an.

The study reached a number of findings, most notably the diversity of grammatical structures associated with the root (N-B-ʾ) and its derivatives in the Holy Qur’an, and the variety of their structural and semantic functions according to the Qur’anic context. These findings highlight the precision of Qur’anic expression and the rhetorical miracle of the Qur’anic text.

The examination committee was chaired by Professor Dr. Zahraa Saad Al-Din, with Assistant Professor Dr. Younis Abdullah Mohammed, Assistant Professor Dr. Jasim Taha Ahmed, and Assistant Professor Dr. Abdulmunim Abdullah Khalaf serving as committee members, with the latter also acting as the thesis supervisor.
