The College of Basic Education at the University of Mosul discussed a Master’s thesis entitled (“A Historical Study of Student Sports and Scouting Activities and the Achievements of Nineveh Governorate Universities for the Period 2010–2025”) on Wednesday, August 12, 2026.

The thesis, presented by student Ahmed Ali Yunus Al-Hadidi from the Department of Physical Education and Sports Sciences, aimed to:
  1. Identify the reality of student sports and scouting activities in the universities of Nineveh Governorate (University of Mosul, Northern Technical University, University of Nineveh, University of Talafar, and University of Al-Hamdaniya) for the period from 2010 to 2025.
  2. Document the championships, results, and advanced positions achieved by the teams of Nineveh Governorate universities in local, central, and Arab championships.
  3. Determine the role of sports and scouting activities in developing students’ personalities and enhancing national spirit and cooperation among them.
The study reached several key conclusions, most notably: the success of the universities in sustaining sports and scouting activities despite the harsh conditions the governorate went through; and establishing the direct correlation between the availability of infrastructure and financial support on one hand, and the rise in recorded university achievements on the other.
The defense committee was chaired by Prof. Dr. Waleed Khaled Hammam, with the membership of:

  • Asst. Prof. Dr. Mohammed Ramadan Najm (Member)
