Afforestation campaign at the College of Basic Education
As part of promoting environmental awareness and reinforcing sustainable development concepts, the University of Mosul / College of Basic Education—represented by the Studies and Planning Department / Sustainable Development Committee, and in cooperation with the Student Activities Department / Volunteer Unit and Cultural Unit, as well as the Diwan Affairs Department / Management and Maintenance Unit for the Second Campus—organized a tree-planting campaign dedicated to the college’s administrative staff under the slogan “Plant, Do Not Cut.”
The campaign aimed to enhance environmental literacy among staff members and spread awareness about the importance of afforestation and expanding green spaces within the university campus. These efforts play an active role in improving the academic environment, reducing the impacts of pollution, and contributing to a healthy and aesthetically pleasing atmosphere suitable for work and education.
This initiative aligns with the College of Basic Education’s commitment to supporting the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)—particularly those related to environmental preservation, combating climate change, and promoting social responsibility—by conducting field activities that transform environmental awareness into sustainable practical actions.
Furthermore, the campaign highlighted the importance of cooperation and integration among the college’s various administrative departments and units. It emphasized that environmental protection is a shared responsibility requiring collective effort to foster positive behaviors and preserve natural resources for future generations.
The College of Basic Education reaffirms its ongoing support for environmental and voluntary initiatives that advance sustainability and contribute to building a green university environment, stemming from its academic, educational, and societal mission.
