**Master’s Thesis at the College of Basic Education Examines the Grammatical Analysis of Al-Khalil ibn Ahmad’s Narration of the Qur’anic Recitation of Asim ibn Abi Al-Najud**

The College of Basic Education at the University of Mosul discussed a master’s thesis entitled *”The Grammatical Analysis of Al-Khalil ibn Ahmad’s Narration of the Qur’anic Recitation of Asim ibn Abi Al-Najud”* on Sunday, 28 June 2026, in the Discussion Hall of the College of Political Science.

The thesis, submitted by Mohammed Ali Abdullah Al-Juhaishi from the Department of Arabic Language, aimed to collect Al-Khalil ibn Ahmad Al-Farahidi’s narration of the Qur’anic recitation of Asim ibn Abi Al-Najud and provide a grammatical analysis of its linguistic features.

The study addressed several key topics, including an introduction to Imam Al-Khalil ibn Ahmad Al-Farahidi and his scholarly status, as well as his role as a Qur’anic reciter and narrator. It also explained why his narration did not gain the same recognition as the narration of Hafs from Asim. In addition, the research introduced Imam Asim ibn Abi Al-Najud and his Qur’anic recitation, and examined Al-Khalil’s narration by collecting its grammatical occurrences. The analysis covered nouns, verbs, and particles, while identifying the points of agreement and difference between this narration and the Seven Canonical Qur’anic Readings.

The study reached several findings, most notably confirming the authenticity of Al-Khalil ibn Ahmad’s narration of Asim ibn Abi Al-Najud through a continuous chain of transmission. It also found that the narration agrees with the narration of Hafs from Asim in certain instances while differing from it in others.

The examination committee was chaired by Professor Dr. Saad Mohammed Ahmed, with Assistant Professor Dr. Abdulmunim Abdullah Khalaf and Assistant Professor Dr. Walaa Hashim Ahmed serving as members. Assistant Professor Dr. Jassim Taha Ahmed served as both a committee member and the thesis supervisor.
