A Creative Achievement Gaining International Recognition for a Faculty Member at Our College

As part of its scientific and cultural activities, the College of Basic Education / Department of Arabic Language continues to showcase the works of its faculty members at international forums. The cultural scene has recently witnessed the publication of the English translation of the book “I Drag My Sorrow by His Collar” by poet and Dr. Hanaa Ahmed Jabr, a faculty member in the Department of Arabic Language.

The book was published under the title “I Drag My Sorrow by His Collar” by the American publishing house Black Ocean, as the first publication in the series “Songs for Fairuz: New Arab Women’s Poetry.”

A launch event for the English translation is scheduled to be held at the Boston Public Library – Copley Square in September 2026.

It is worth noting that the book was originally published in Arabic by the Union of Iraqi Writers and Authors Publications in 2022. It now embarks on a new journey in another language, marking an important step that reflects the presence of Iraqi literary achievement and its representation within the global cultural sphere.
