Master’s Thesis at the College of Basic Education on “The Effect of SAQ Exercises on Selected Physical and Skill-Related Attributes among Junior Table Tennis Players”

The Department of Physical Education and Sports Sciences at the College of Basic Education, University of Mosul, discussed a master’s thesis entitled “The Effect of SAQ Exercises on Selected Physical and Skill-Related Attributes among Junior Table Tennis Players.” The discussion was held on Thursday, August 6, 2026.

The thesis, submitted by Obaida Marwan Adel, aimed to design a Quick Light Training (QLT) device for response speed and employ it to measure and develop selected physical variables related to table tennis performance. It also aimed to develop a training program using SAQ (Speed, Agility, and Quickness) exercises, incorporating physical and movement-based exercises related to the actual performance requirements of the game. In addition, the study sought to identify the statistical significance of differences and compare the pre- and post-test results of the experimental and control groups.

The study reached several findings, most notably that there were statistically significant differences between the pre- and post-tests of the experimental group across all physical and skill-related variables under investigation, in favor of the post-test.

The experimental group also outperformed the control group in most of the physical and skill-related variables. These findings confirm the effectiveness of SAQ training and the innovative QLT device in developing players’ visual stimulus perception speed, motor response speed, and reactive agility.

The discussion committee was chaired by Assistant Prof. Dr. Ahmed Ramadan, with the membership of:
