Master’s Thesis at the College of Basic Education on “Narrations Attributed to Al-Farra’ in Ibrahim Al-Harbi’s Gharib Al-Hadith: A Semantic Study”

 

The Department of Arabic Language at the College of Basic Education, University of Mosul, discussed a master’s thesis entitled “Narrations Attributed to Al-Farra’ in Ibrahim Al-Harbi’s Gharib Al-Hadith: A Semantic Study.” The thesis was submitted by Mohammed Ahmed Hammadi Ali, and the discussion was held on Sunday, August 9, 2026, at Al-Hadbaa Hall at the College of Basic Education.

The thesis examined and analyzed the linguistic opinions and narrations attributed to Imam Al-Farra’ in Ibrahim Al-Harbi’s book Gharib Al-Hadith. It highlighted the semantic dimensions of these opinions and classified them according to Semantic Field Theory, analyzing the meanings and vocabulary selected for the semantic study.

The study also sought to demonstrate the impact of Al-Farra’s narrations on interpreting unfamiliar expressions in Hadith and to assess the extent to which Al-Harbi successfully employed these narrations in his work.
