The College of Basic Education at the University of Mosul organized a scientific workshop titled “Dimensions of Sustainable Development in the Sermons of the Prophet (PBUH) and the Rightly Guided Caliphs (May Allah be pleased with them)” on Sunday, November 1, 2026.
The workshop featured lectures by:
-
Prof. Dr. Fathi Salem Humaidi
-
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Okab Yousif Jumaa
The workshop aimed to highlight the dimensions of sustainable development within Islamic heritage through the sermons of the Prophet (PBUH) as well as the policies, measures, and directives of the Rightly Guided Caliphs.
It covered several key axes, including the dimensions of sustainable development in the Prophet’s sermons and its aspects within the policies and administrative measures of the Rightly Guided Caliphs—focusing particularly on building good governance through the policies and directives of Caliph Umar ibn Al-Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him) and Imam Ali (peace be upon him).
Organized by the Department of History, this workshop reflects its commitment to clarifying the principles and goals of sustainable development in Islamic tradition to follow its approach in building state institutions. It also aimed to raise awareness among postgraduate students regarding these concepts in Islamic heritage, while calling upon faculty and administrative staff to adopt and implement these principles in their professional duties and institutional management.
