The Workshop on Developing Postgraduate Skills / College of Medicine
Dr. Amjad Hazem, a lecturer in the Department of Biochemistry, conducted his third workshop within the Scientific Research Skills Development Program for postgraduate students on Thursday, February 26, 2026, at Al-Razi Hall / College of Medicine.
The workshop was titled: “How to Choose the Right Scientific Journal to Publish Your Research Paper”, as part of supporting the research environment and promoting a culture of sound publication.
The workshop aimed to provide students with scientific advice and guidelines related to the mechanism of selecting refereed and accredited journals, and to clarify the basic criteria for evaluating journals in terms of impact factor, indexed databases, and publication requirements. It also aimed to raise awareness among researchers about the risks of publishing in predatory and fake journals and ways to avoid them.
The workshop included a practical demonstration of how to search for suitable journals using reputable global platforms, with an open discussion to answer students’ questions and share research experiences.
This workshop was conducted in collaboration with the Department of Studies and Planning – Sustainable Development Unit, in line with achieving the fourth goal of the Sustainable Development Goals.
