Medicine between Patient Desire and Human Rights

A scientific workshop was held at the College of Medicine, University of Mosul, titled “Medicine between Patient Desire and Human Rights” under the patronage of the President of the University of Mosul, Prof. Dr. Waheed Mahmoud Al-Ibrahimi, and the supervision of Prof. Dr. Adul-Rahim Ibrahim Jassim, Vice President for Scientific Affairs.
The workshop was organized by the Human Rights Division at the University of Mosul, in collaboration with the Human Rights Unit at the College of Medicine, and the High Commission for Human Rights / Nineveh Office, on Tuesday, April 7, 2026.
This workshop contributed to supporting Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) 3 and 4, and aligned with SDG 16 (Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions) by promoting human rights principles in academic and healthcare institutions, and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals) through fruitful cooperation between academic institutions and human rights bodies, enhancing efforts towards sustainable development.
This event is a significant step towards embedding sustainable development concepts in the university and medical environment and raising awareness of human rights.
