A Virtual Scientific Symposium of the Department of Pathology Deals with Many Clinically Rare Diseases

The annual scientific symposium of the Department of Pathology dealt with many rare and clinically unexpected cases on Sunday, 30th May 2021.

The symposium aimed to shed light on the necessity of conducting clinical examinations even in seemingly simple pathological cases.

It came up with the extent of the importance of histological and immunological tests in diagnosing many complex pathological cases (clinically speaking) without these tests may lead to a delay in the use of appropriate treatment in addition to an increase in the incidence of pathological complications.

The symposium consisted of two scientific sessions. The first chaired by Prof. Wahda M. Tayeb, while the second was chaired by Prof. Mona A. Kashmoula, with five lectures for both sessions. There was a room for questions, discussions and interpositions by the attendees after the end of each session. Before concluding, the recommendations were read out by the Head of the Department, Prof Dr Zahra M. Sha’ban.

The symposium was held virtually under the auspices of President of the University, Prof Dr Qusay K. Ahmadi, and under the supervision and presence of the Dean of the College, Prof Dr Basil M. Nathir Saeed, and some members of the College Board. It was also attended by dozens of teaching staff, academics and specialists from various Iraqi, Arab and foreign universities.
