University of Mosul College of Medicine Holds First Meeting of its Industrial Advisory Council
On the morning of Tuesday, July 1, 2025, the College of Medicine at the University of Mosul held the inaugural meeting of its Industrial Advisory Council in the college council hall. The meeting was chaired by the Dean of the College, Assistant Professor Dr. Humam Ghanem Ibrahim Zubeir, with the participation of council members representing relevant health, governmental, and industrial entities.
The council’s composition included:
• President of the Medical Syndicate: Dr. Mohammed Suleiman Al-Hoori (Consultant Physician)
• Associate Dean for Scientific Affairs: Dr. Ahmed Abdullah Ahmed Al-Harbi
• Heads of the academic departments within the college
• Representative of the Nineveh Health Directorate: Dr. Waleed Mohammed Basheer Al-Saba’ (Consultant Physician)
• Director of Ibn Sina Teaching Hospital: Dr. Saad Ali Al-Khattabi (Specialist Physician)
• Representative of the Ministry of Industry and Minerals / State Company for Communication and Power Equipment: Eng. Ahmed Issam Ahmed (Head of Planning and Follow-up Department)
The meeting began with a welcoming speech by the Dean, followed by introductions of the council members. A presentation was then delivered outlining the objectives of the Industrial Advisory Council and its role in supporting the college in areas such as curriculum development, strengthening partnerships with the health and industrial sectors, and promoting scientific research and hands-on training. The council also reviewed ministerial regulations governing the work of advisory councils.

The meeting agenda covered several key topics, including:
• Reviewing recent updates to the College of Medicine’s curriculum and the need to align it with modern medical advancements.
• Evaluating the updated learning outcomes and their alignment with the needs of the healthcare labor market.
• Addressing challenges related to clinical training and applied scientific research.
Key Recommendations:
The council concluded with the following recommendations and priorities for the upcoming period:
• Updating the medical curriculum to align with international standards.
• Supporting practical training programs for students within healthcare institutions.
• Promoting applied research with direct impact on the healthcare sector.
• Organizing joint workshops and events between the college and relevant sectors.
Additionally, it was agreed to develop an initial action plan outlining the outcomes of the meeting and mechanisms for follow-up, along with a schedule for future meetings.
The meeting concluded with a speech from the Dean, emphasizing the importance of integration between the college and the health and industrial sectors to enhance the quality of medical education and contribute effectively to community service. He also expressed his appreciation to all attendees for their active and constructive participation.
