A Virtual Symposium of the Department of Pediatrics Discusses the Topic of Neonatal Intensive Care

The annual scientific symposium of the Department of Pediatrics which was held virtually on the evening of Wednesday 17th March 2021 discussed the scientific developments in the subject of premature and new-born babies.

It aimed to get definition of modern methods and new technologies in treating premature and new-born infants’ diseases.

The symposium concluded the necessity of equipping preterm units with T-piece resuscitators, CPAP devices and MECHANICAL VENTILATORs for premature infants as well as training medical staff working in intensive care units to use these devices. The symposium was opened by the Head of the Department, Assistant Prof Dr Riyad A. Al-Obaidi. It consisted of two scientific sessions: the first of which was chaired by Assistant Prof Dr Mazin M. Al-Sarraf, while the second was chaired by Assistant Prof Dr Rabei M. Al-Dobouni. Six lectures were given alternatively by the head, reporter, and teaching staff of the department. After the end of each session, the opportunity was given to express questions, discussions and interpositions by the attendees.

The symposium was held under the patronage of the President of the University, Prof Dr Qusai K. Al-Ahmadi, and under the supervision and presence of the Dean of the College, Prof Dr Basil M. Nathir Saeed. Dozens of teaching staff, academics, researchers and interested people also attended.
