Cervical Cancer Detection Workshop / College of Medicine – Women’s Affairs Committee
Under the patronage of the President of the University of Mosul, Professor Dr. Waheed Mahmoud Al-Ibrahimi, and under the supervision of the Dean of the College of Medicine, Assistant Professor Dr. Humam Ghanim Ibraahim, And in implementation of the Third National Plan for Women, Security, and Peace/Pillar of Protection and Prevention, and in line with the Sustainable Development Goals.
Goal 3: (Good Health and Well-being) and Goal 4: (Quality Education), the Women’s Affairs Committee at the College of Medicine, in collaboration with the Women’s Affairs Unit and the Department of Studies and Planning/ Sustainable Development Unit at the university presidency, organized a workshop on women’s health titled: “Early Detection of Cervical Cancer and Prevention Methods” on Tuesday, August 19, 2025.
Workshop Objectives
The workshop aimed to raise awareness about cervical cancer, its symptoms, causes, and the role of the Human Papillomavirus (HPV) in its development. It also highlighted the importance of early detection methods, such as regular Pap smears, and encouraged women and girls to get vaccinated against HPV as an effective preventive measure.
Workshop Content
The workshop included two lectures:
1. The first lecture was delivered by Dr. Ruwaa Abdul Jabbar, a specialist in obstetrics and gynecology.
2. The second lecture was delivered by Dr. Bnān Burhan Muhammad, a specialist in histopathology.
Target Audience
The workshop targeted female faculty members and students of the College of Medicine.
Attendance
The workshop was attended by the Vice Dean for Scientific Affairs, Dr. Ahmad Abdullah Ahmad, among others.
