The College of Medicine was established in 1959 and thus was the first nucleus of the establishment of the University of Mosul in 1967, which currently includes twenty-four colleges and seven various research centers.

The college consists of twelve scientific departments that supervise studies at both the undergraduate and postgraduate academic level (Master /Doctorate). In addition to clinical specialties within the study of Arab and Iraqi Board and professional diploma ensuring that heath and academic institutions are provided with a great diversity in various medical fields and specialties.

The College of Medicine is keen to keep pace with recent developments in medical education. It is highly attentive with the quality of the skills acquired by graduates and their abilities to provide the best medical services to the community. In addition to preparing doctors in a way that qualifies them to work or complete studies in any country around the world.

From this standpoint, the college is keen to apply international standards of quality and reliability in order to maintain scientific sobriety, and to ensure that the college keeps pace with recent developments in the field of medical education, in a way that achieves scientific communication with the regional and international surroundings, which reflects positively on the quality of health services provided in Iraq. The college has made great strides on the subject of national and international academic accreditation.

As the college is interested in the scientific and medical aspects, it also seeks to have a positive role in cultivating the spirit of love and brotherhood in society by embracing its students from different cultures and cities in an attempt to invest this diversity among its students to strengthen the bonds of brotherhood, love and tolerance among all spectrums of Iraqi society, to contribute to achieving the college’s scientific, humanitarian, moral and cultural mission at the level of Iraq, the world and humanity in general.
