Finishing the Training Course “Medical Screening of Healthy People”

Under the patronage of the Dean of the College of Medicine, Prof Dr Basil Mohammednather Saeed, the College of Medicine held a virtual training course, as part of the continuing Learning activities entitled “Medical Screening Tests of Healthy People” for three days, from 29th March. In which the professors from the Departments of Medical Physiology, Biochemistry and Microbiology delivered their lectures.On the first day, the Head of the Medical Physiology Department, the Assistant Prof Dr Afra’ M. Al-Amin, delivered a lecture entitled “Introduction to Screening”Then delivered a lecture by Lecturer Dr Maryam H. Abdel-Jalal from the Department of Biochemistry entitled “Indicators of Tumours”In the second day, the lecturer Dr Bushra K. Abdel Qader, from Medical Physiology department delivered her lecture entitled “The Role of Medical Physiology in Screening Tests.” Then the Lecturer Dr Ikram Kh. Qassim, from the Department of Microbiology, delivered his lecture entitled “TORCH Screening Tests”As for the third day’s lectures, it was for professors from the Department of Biochemistry. The Lecturer Dr Sura Kh. Mohi El-Din delivered a lecture entitled “Examples of some Biochemical Tests in the Screening Test”, followed by a lecture delivered by the Lecturer Saba Kh. Saleih entitled “Some Important Laboratory Screening Tests”The session came out with several recommendations, including:-The necessity of conducting periodic tests and considering it one of the important things to discover health problems and diseases that may be hidden and whose symptoms do not appear in the early stages especially for people who have a family history of the disease such as breast cancer.-Screening for obesity and high blood pressure.-The necessity of conducting a TORCH examination in the event of a suspected infection of a pregnant woman and repeated miscarriage as early detection of infection prevents complications in new-borns.
