International Accreditation Celebration

To enhance the quality of medical education in Iraq, the College of Medicine at the University of Mosul participated in a major celebration at the College of Medicine, University of Baghdad, marking one year since the Iraqi National Council for Medical Colleges Accreditation received international recognition.

The event, held under the patronage of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, was attended by prominent academic figures, including:

• Prof. Ricardo León Borquez, President of the World Federation for Medical Education
• Prof. Yusra Abdul Rahman Mahmoud, President of the National Accreditation Council for Medical Colleges
• Prof. Adnan Ibrahim Al-Jumaili, Deputy Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research
• Deans of medical colleges across Iraq and representatives of international academic accreditation bodies.

During the panel discussion, Prof. Dr. Basil SAEED, Dean of the College of Medicine at the University of Mosul, highlighted challenges faced by Iraqi medical colleges, especially those encountered by the University of Mosul’s College of Medicine in securing international accreditation.

At the event’s conclusion, the College of Medicine at the University of Mosul was awarded an accreditation certificate and an honorary shield by the Iraqi National Accreditation Council, reaffirming its commitment to quality and academic excellence.
