Discussion of a Master’s Thesis at the College of Medicine, University of Mosul
With the help of God Almighty, the Master’s thesis titled “Thyroid Function in Patients Using Amiodarone” was discussed at the College of Medicine, University of Mosul on Wednesday, August 20, 2025. The thesis was presented by the student Manaf Ibrahim Saleh Abdullah.
Discussion Committee
The discussion committee consisted of:
– Assistant Professor Dr. Dheya Abdulqader Al-Hamdani (Chairman)
– Assistant Professor Dr. Shamil Hashim Othman (Member)
– Dr. Amjad Hazem Abd Al-Nuaimi (Member)
– Assistant Professor Dr. Hazim Alawi Muhammad (Member and Supervisor)
Thesis Objective
The objective of the thesis was to:
• Investigate the impact of Amiodarone on thyroid function, contributing to Sustainable Development Goals,
particularly Goal 3 (Good Health and Well-being) and Goal 4 (Quality Education).
Findings
The study found that although Amiodarone is known to cause thyroid dysfunction, a significant proportion of patients returned to normal thyroid function levels.
Recommendations
The study recommended conducting a similar study with a longer duration and a larger sample size.
Outcome
After the discussion, the committee’s decision was read, which included accepting the thesis with necessary revisions.
Attendance
The discussion was attended by the Dean of the College, Assistant Professor Dr. Humam Ghanim Ibraahim, the Vice Dean for Administrative and Financial Affairs, Lecturer Dr. Karam Turath Toufiq, and a number of faculty members and postgraduate students.
