Workshop of the Women’s Affairs Violence Against Women, Revealing the Truth and Building Protection Shields”.

Workshop of the Women’s Affairs Committee at the College of Medicine / University of Mosul*

Under the auspices of the President of Mosul University, Prof. Dr. Waheed Mahmoud Al-Ibrahimi, and under the supervision of the Dean of the College of Medicine, Prof. Dr. Humam Ghanim Ibraahim, and in implementation of the Third National Plan for Women, Security, and Peace/Pillar of Protection and Prevention, and to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals, the Women’s Affairs Committee at the College of Medicine, in cooperation with the Women’s Affairs Unit at the University Presidency, the Sustainable Development Unit/Studies and Planning Department at the University Presidency, and the University Psychological Counseling Division at the college, held an educational seminar titled: “Violence Against Women, Revealing the Truth and Building Protection Shields”.

The seminar was held on Sunday, November 2, 2025, at 10:00 am in Al-Razi Hall/College of Medicine. The lecturer was Dr. Noor Sameer Yahya.

The recommendations of the seminar:

1. Activating and updating legislation to protect women from all forms of violence.
2. Establishing specialized units and safe shelters to provide support and care.
3. Enhancing community awareness and media campaigns to combat violence and promote a culture of equality.
4. Empowering women economically and socially to reduce their dependence and the violence practiced against them.
5. Building a national database to monitor cases of violence and support scientific research in this field.
6. Enhancing cooperation between government institutions and civil society to coordinate preventive efforts and protection.

This initiative contributes to achieving Sustainable Development Goals 3, 4, 5, and 10.
