Workshop on Artificial Intelligence and Digital Literacy in Medicine
Under the patronage of the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, Prof. Dr. Basil SAEED, and supervised by Assistant Prof. Dr. Humam Ghanem Ibrahim Zubair, the Associate Dean for Scientific Affairs, the Supporting Sciences Unit organized a workshop titled: “Artificial Intelligence and Digital Literacy” as part of its Continuing Education Unit activities.
The workshop was held at 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday, November 26, 2024, in the Viva and higher education Hall, featuring lectures by:
• Professor Dr. Basil SAEED: “Artificial Intelligence: A Dean’s Perspective”
• Professor Ruqayya Zaidan Shaaban: “An Introduction to Artificial Intelligence and Its Evolution”
• Lecturer Dr. Dhafer Fakhri Hassan Al-Layla: “Artificial Intelligence Mechanisms, Prominent Algorithms, and Applications”
Workshop Objectives:
The workshop provided a comprehensive introduction to artificial intelligence (AI), including its definition as a simulation of human intelligence in machines, its history from early rule-based systems to modern deep learning innovations, and the types of AI, such as narrow AI, general AI, and superintelligence. It also highlighted the benefits of AI in fields like healthcare, automation, and data analysis while discussing tools, AI mechanisms, prominent algorithms, and applications.
