Training Course in First Aid for Staff of the Student Affairs Department

The College of Nursing / University of Mosul organized a training course today, Sunday, April 5, 2026, on first aid for the staff of the Student Affairs Department at the University of Mosul. This initiative comes along with the college’s efforts to promote health awareness and enhance skills in handling emergency situations within the university environment.

The course began with a lecture delivered by the Assistant Dean for Scientific Affairs, Students, and Postgraduate Studies, Assistant Professor Dr. Hanaa Hussein Mukhlef, entitled “Vital Signs.” In her lecture, she addressed the importance of monitoring the patient’s basic vital indicators and their role in diagnosing health conditions and taking appropriate actions quickly and accurately.

This was followed by a lecture presented by the Head of the Clinical Nursing Sciences Branch, Assistant Professor Dr. Mahmoud Mohammed Ahmed, entitled “Breathing and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR).” He reviewed the correct scientific methods for dealing with cases of choking and respiratory arrest, as well as the importance of CPR in saving patients’ lives.

Assistant Professor Yamama Zuhair also delivered a lecture entitled “The Meaning of First Aid and the Role of the First Responder,” in which she explained the concept of first aid, the importance of rapid intervention in emergency cases, and the humanitarian and professional role of the first responder in providing initial care to the injured.

This course is part of the scientific and training activities that the College of Nursing / University of Mosul is keen to organize, aiming to develop health-related skills and enhance community awareness, in line with the Sustainable Development Goals related to good health and well-being, quality education, and building a more prepared and responsive university environment for handling emergencies.
