Master’s Thesis Defense Held at the College of Nursing on Enhancing Nurses’ Behaviors in Dealing with Communicable Diseases
In the presence of the Dean of the College of Nursing, Assistant Professor Dr. Tahseen Mohsen Hussein, and the Dean of the College of Nursing at the University of Nineveh, Professor Dr. Radwan Hussein Ibrahim, the master’s thesis defense of student Mohammed Saleh Manour was held on Monday, June 23, 2025. His thesis is entitled:
“The Effectiveness of an Educational Program Based on the Theory of Planned Behavior in Enhancing Nurses’ Behaviors in Dealing with Communicable Diseases.”
The research aims to develop nurses’ professional behaviors by applying an educational program grounded in the Theory of Planned Behavior, enhancing their ability to effectively handle communicable diseases and reduce their spread within healthcare institutions.
It also seeks to increase nurses’ awareness of preventive practices, motivate them to adhere to standard infection control procedures, and strengthen their positive attitudes toward adopting healthy behaviors.
Additionally, the study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of behavior-based educational programs in improving practical performance within clinical settings.
The defense committee was chaired by Assistant Professor Dr. Abdullah Saleh Kmit from University of Kirkuk / College of Nursing, and included the following members:
• Assistant Professor Dr. Mahmoud Mohammed Ahmed – College of Nursing / University of Mosul
• Lecturer Dr. Nawaf Mohammed Dhahir – College of Nursing / University of Mosul
The committee also included Professor Dr. Nasir Mowafaq Younis from the College of Nursing / University of Mosul, who served as a member and supervisor. He played a key role in supervising all stages of the thesis and guiding the student academically.
The defense session witnessed a rigorous academic discussion and a fruitful exchange of ideas, with the committee offering constructive feedback that contributed to enhancing the quality and outcomes of the research.
At the conclusion of the session, the student was awarded a Master’s degree in Nursing Sciences after making the recommended revisions by the committee.
