A Pioneering Initiative to Activate Public Transport Systems

Part of University of Mosul’s College of Pharmacy Initiatives Towards a More Sustainable Campus
In its pursuit of reducing private vehicle traffic within the campus, the College of Pharmacy at the University of Mosul has launched a pioneering initiative to activate a collective transport system. The program provides free shuttle buses, alongside bicycles and electric-powered bikes, to facilitate the movement of students and staff between colleges. This move aims to significantly reduce carbon emissions and ease traffic congestion.
The initiative also includes promoting digital learning and supporting a hybrid education model. This approach minimizes unnecessary physical presence on campus while enhancing flexibility within the educational process.
This initiative aligns with several Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), most notably:
* Goal 3: Good Health and Well-being – By reducing environmental pollution and encouraging physical activity through cycling.
* Goal 4: Quality Education – By supporting digital and hybrid learning and improving access to knowledge.
* Goal 7: Affordable and Clean Energy – Through the use of clean, electric-powered transportation.
* Goal 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities – By reducing reliance on private vehicles and promoting sustainable mobility within the campus.
* Goal 13: Climate Action – By contributing to the reduction of harmful emissions and mitigating the impacts of climate change.
The College of Pharmacy reaffirms its ongoing commitment to building a smart, eco-friendly university environment for the future.
