College of Pharmacy Activates “Ghiras Al-Rahma” Initiative to Promote the “Green University” Concept

 

In alignment with the University of Mosul’s strategic vision to promote the “Green University” concept and achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), specifically Goal 3 (Good Health and Well-being), the College of Pharmacy launched an extensive environmental awareness and afforestation campaign today, Sunday, October 26, 2025.
The campaign, titled “Ghiras Al-Rahma” (Planting Mercy), was held under the supervision of the Dean, Professor Dr. Yasser Fakhry Mustafa, and in cooperation with the Department of Studies and Planning at the University of Mosul. This initiative reflects the college’s commitment to embedding a culture of sustainability among its students and staff.
Key Activities of the Initiative:
* Educational Workshop & Awareness Campaigns: Sessions designed to educate the university community on environmental preservation.
* Scientific Exhibits: The display of posters and instructional materials highlighting the benefits of green spaces and their positive impact on public health and the environment.
* Field Afforestation: A practical campaign to plant various trees and ornamental plants in the college gardens and its Herbarium, fostering a spirit of teamwork and institutional belonging.
The campaign was executed through the collaborative efforts of the Voluntary Work Unit, led by Dr. Iman Mahmoud Hassan, and the Women’s Affairs Committee, led by Assistant Professor Dr. Farah Hazim Omar. This cooperation underscores the integration of academic and social efforts in achieving environmental milestones.
At the conclusion of the event, the Dean emphasized that these activities are integral to the college’s plan to consolidate the “Green University” concept and instill environmental consciousness, ensuring a healthy and vibrant educational environment.
