College of Pharmacy Students Conduct Scientific Visit to Samarra Drug Industry (SDI) to Enhance Practical and Knowledge-Based Skills

In line with the strategic vision of the College of Pharmacy at the University of Mosul to integrate academic curricula with practical application, and under the supervision of the Dean, Professor Dr. Yasser Fakhry Mustafa, the Department of Pharmaceutics organized a scientific field visit to the Samarra Drug Industry (SDI) on Tuesday, October 28, 2025. The visit included a group of fifth-year students and several faculty members.
The delegation was received by Chemical Engineer Mohammed Abdul-Qader Al-Nuaimi, Director General of the State Company for Drugs and Medical Appliances in Samarra. He welcomed the college delegation, emphasizing the vital role of such visits in strengthening communication between academic and industrial institutions, while supporting student training in the practical skills of pharmaceutical manufacturing.
Under the guidance of Pharmacist Iqbal Saleh Hamad, Assistant Director General and Technical Director, the students embarked on an extensive scientific tour of the facility. The tour covered the Quality Control departments and the Al-Razi Plant, which specializes in antibiotic production. Students were introduced to the mechanisms of pharmaceutical manufacturing and antibiotic production lines, gaining practical expertise that enriches their scientific knowledge and deepens their professional understanding of the field.
The students expressed their appreciation for this significant scientific visit, noting that it added a crucial practical dimension to their academic journey and highlighted the importance of observing the realities of the national pharmaceutical industry.
At the conclusion of the visit, the college delegation extended their gratitude to the company’s management for their warm reception and cooperation. The Dean reaffirmed that these visits are fundamental to the college’s plan to merge theoretical knowledge with hands-on practice, preparing highly qualified pharmacists capable of advancing the health and pharmaceutical sectors in Iraq.
