A Milestone in Pharmaceutical Education: College of Pharmacy Conducts First-Ever OSCE for Fourth-Year Students

Under the supervision of the Dean, Professor Dr. Yasser Fakhry Mustafa, and the follow-up of Assistant Professor Dr. Mohammed Ibrahim Al-Adool, Head of the Clinical Pharmacy Department, the College of Pharmacy at the University of Mosul successfully conducted the Objective Structured Clinical Examination (OSCE) for fourth-year students in the Clinical Pharmacy course. This landmark assessment was held on Monday and Tuesday, marking the first time this examination format has been implemented at the college level.
The implementation of the OSCE reflects the college’s adoption of modern assessment methodologies established in global medical and health education. This achievement is the result of the distinguished efforts of the Clinical Pharmacy Department and its faculty, aiming to evaluate students’ clinical and practical skills while measuring their ability to apply theoretical knowledge in simulated real-world scenarios, thereby enhancing their professional readiness.
Why the OSCE matters:
* Global Standards: It is one of the most advanced evaluation methods recognized worldwide for its objectivity and precision in measuring clinical performance.
* Skill-Based Assessment: It moves beyond traditional testing to focus on communication, diagnostic, and counseling skills.
* Academic Innovation: It embodies the college’s commitment to keeping pace with modern curriculum developments and academic evaluation techniques.
The Deanship reaffirms its continuous support for scientific initiatives aimed at elevating the academic and professional standards of its students, wishing them continued success and excellence in their medical careers.
