College of Political Science at the University of Mosul Organizes a Student Awareness Lecture on the Culture of Participation in Decision-Making

In line with the Sustainable Development Goals, specifically Goal 4: Quality Education, the Qualification, Employment, and Follow-up Unit at the College of Political Science, University of Mosul, organized an awareness lecture entitled: “Promoting a Culture of Public Participation in the Decision-Making Process” on Sunday, 2 November 2025.
The lecture discussed the concept of public participation, its various forms, and mechanisms to enhance it within the Iraqi political system. It also highlighted the role of academic institutions in promoting the values of dialogue and social responsibility in decision-making. Moreover, the importance of involving youth and students in shaping public policies was emphasized, considering them key actors in building the political future of the country.
The lecture aimed to strengthen students’ understanding of the importance of public participation in political and administrative decision-making, develop their dialogue and communication skills with public institutions, encourage their engagement in community and political initiatives that support reform and institutional development, and consolidate the culture of active citizenship and social responsibility among them.
The lecture was delivered by the Scientific Assistant, Assistant Professor Dr. Khairallah Sabhan Al-Jubouri; the Unit Officer, Dr. Ali Bashar Bakr; and Assistant Lecturers Mohammad Mohsen, Jaafar Ghayath Al-Din, and Wissam Mohsen.
The event was held under the supervision of the Dean of the College and is part of the unit’s programs to be implemented during the academic year 2025–2026, targeting the student community.
