The College of Political Science at the University of Mosul Organizes a Training Course on Intellectual and Religious Extremism within the University Environment

In alignment with the Sustainable Development Goals — Goal 1: No Poverty, Goal 4: Quality Education, Goal 5: Gender Equality, and Goal 16: Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions — and in cooperation with the University Psychological Guidance Department and the Department of Studies and Planning / Sustainable Development Unit at the Presidency of the University of Mosul, the Psychological Guidance Division at the College of Political Science organized its training course entitled “Prevention of Intellectual and Religious Extremism within the University Environment,” held on 2–3 December 2025.
The course addressed several key themes, including the role of international relations and cultural exchange in preventing intellectual extremism within the university environment; the impact of national educational policies in safeguarding university youth from ideological deviations; raising awareness about manifestations of religious extremism and their implications for societal peace; as well as examining the role of academic institutions in countering extremism, promoting moderate discourse, and consolidating values of moderation and coexistence within the educational setting.
The research papers were presented by Dr. Ali Bashar Bakr, Dr. Kawthar Hasst Ghazi, Assistant Lecturer Samah Suhail Behnan, Assistant Lecturer Ansam Salim Mahdi, and Assistant Lecturer Saad Shahab Ahmed.
The course was conducted under the supervision of the College Deanery and targeted students as its primary audience.
