Master’s thesis in the Public Law Department on international responsibility arising from hostage-taking,,,
On Monday, February 24, 2025, the Public Law Department at the College of Law at the University of Mosul discussed a master’s thesis on international responsibility arising from hostage-taking, attended by Assistant Professor Dr. Wissam Nemat Ibrahim Al-Saadi, Dean of the College, and a number of members of the College Council and its lecturers.
The thesis submitted by the student Ahmed Khair Al-Din Azrael in the Public Law Department addressed the phenomenon of hostage-taking, which is one of the most dangerous challenges facing the world at the present time due to its dire effects on human rights and international peace and security, as this crime is not associated with a specific geographical area or a specific religion or culture, but rather it has a global character and is known to all countries and is implemented in order to achieve many and varied goals.
The thesis aims to show that the crime of hostage-taking is one of the most used crimes by terrorists due to its great impact on public opinion and the personal and political gains it achieves, as it leads to destabilizing global stability.
The discussion committee was headed by Professor Dr. Khalaf Ramadan Muhammad, and included Assistant Professor Dr. Fathi Muhammad Fathi, Assistant Professor Dr. Adi Muhammad Reda, and Supervisory Member Assistant Professor Dr. Muhammad Nazim Daoud.
