Master’s Thesis Discussion at the College of Law, University of Mosul

The College of Law at the University of Mosul witnessed, on Thursday, March 5, 2026, the discussion of the master’s thesis titled **”Obstacles to the United Nations Organization’s Performance of Its Purpose in Maintaining International Peace and Security”** by student Omar Mohammed Rashid Sheikho Ahmed, under the supervision of Assistant Professor Dr. Mohammed Nadhim Dawood.

The thesis addressed an important topic in the field of public international law and international relations, represented in studying the obstacles facing the United Nations Organization in performing its primary role of maintaining international peace and security. The thesis sought to analyze the legal and practical challenges imposed by the United Nations Charter or those associated with its implementation mechanisms, in light of the complex crises and conflicts witnessed in the international arena.

The study aimed to shed light on aspects of the organization’s deficiency in responding effectively to international crises, by providing a scientific analysis that combines theoretical and applied aspects, as well as presenting visions and proposals that could contribute to developing the UN’s working mechanisms and enhancing its role in maintaining international peace and security.
