College of Law at the University of Mosul Holds a Scientific Workshop on “Compulsory Automobile Accident Insurance in Iraq”

The Private Law Branch at the College of Law, University of Mosul, in collaboration with the National Insurance Company / Nineveh, held a specialized scientific workshop titled:

“Compulsory Automobile Accident Insurance in Iraq”

The workshop took place at 10:00 AM on Monday, April 6, 2026.

The workshop highlighted the legal and executive aspects of the compulsory insurance system, focusing on the following points:

  • Legal Framework: A review of the applicable Iraqi laws regulating insurance against traffic accidents.

  • Community Protection: The role of insurance in ensuring the rights of affected parties and reducing the economic and social consequences of accidents.

  • Joint Cooperation: Strengthening the partnership between academic institutions (University of Mosul) and the public sector (National Insurance Company) to exchange expertise and develop legislation.

The workshop saw distinguished attendance from professors of the College of Law, researchers, representatives from the National Insurance Company, as well as students. The session included extensive discussions on the challenges facing the implementation of compulsory insurance in practice and ways to activate it more broadly to protect citizens
