A Scientific Symposium on “Problems of Artificial Intelligence in Electronic Transactions”

The Private Law Branch of the College of Law held its international scientific symposium titled:

Problems of Artificial Intelligence in Electronic Transactions

The symposium’s activities took place on the morning of Monday, April 20, 2026, in the Scientific and Literary Forum Hall at the University of Mosul – First Campus, in the presence of a select group of academics, legal professionals, and researchers interested in the intersection of technology and legal legislation.

Through its research sessions, the symposium addressed several fundamental issues imposed by the current technological surge, the most important of which are:

  • Legal Responsibility: Determining the party responsible for errors that may result from artificial intelligence algorithms in electronic contracts.

  • Data Protection and Privacy: The challenges facing the confidentiality of transactions in light of the increasing reliance on intelligent systems.

  • Proposed Legislation: The urgent need to update legal texts in private law to keep pace with the speed of technological development and ensure the rights of contracting parties.

This symposium comes in response to global changes and in line with the University of Mosul’s continuous endeavor to be proactive in addressing contemporary issues and providing legal coverage that protects users and institutions in the digital transformation environment.

The symposium concluded its work with a set of scientific recommendations, most notably the necessity of activating the role of the Iraqi legislator in drafting special laws for artificial intelligence and enhancing cooperation between legal and technical institutions to ensure a safe electronic environment.
