Introduction:

International Workers’ Day represents an important legal and humanitarian occasion to recall the historical efforts made by workers in their struggle to attain their rights, and to highlight the extent of states’ commitment to protecting these rights. In Iraq, the Iraqi Labor Law No. 37 of 2015 constitutes the primary legislative framework governing labor relations, as it includes provisions aimed at protecting the worker as the weaker party in the contractual relationship, through the regulation of wages, working hours, leave, and ensuring a safe working environment.
