On Sunday, July 24, 2022, the Public Law Branch at the College of Law at the University of Mosul discussed a master’s thesis on the use of force in confronting armed groups not affiliated with the state, part of which was attended by Prof. And a number of college council members and teachers.

The letter presented by the student Hamid Shehab Ahmed in the Public Law Branch dealt with armed groups not associated with a state, which is a phenomenon that emerged in the reality of international relations strongly after the collapse of the former Soviet Union and its dangerous effects began to appear clearly after the events of September 11, 2001, which resulted in many legal problems The complex is a phenomenon that international law treaties have not dealt with in regulatory research.

The study aims to explain the phenomenon of the above groups, which is considered serious by the changes taking place in the reality of international relations, in addition to the absence of a definition of these groups and the failure of international humanitarian law in its multiple agreements with this phenomenon. These groups differ from many other phenomena such as mercenaries, national liberation movements and terrorist organizations with different elements, including Absence of the bond of nationality, the goals it works on, and the method of armed violence it pursues.

The discussion committee was chaired by Prof. Dr. Khalaf Ramadan Muhammad, with the membership of Assistant Professor Dr. Iyad Younis Muhammad, the teacher Dr. Suhad Abdul Jamal Abdul Karim, and the membership and supervision of Assistant Professor Dr. Abdulaziz Ramadan Ali.
