Master’s thesis in the private law branch on the maritime towing contract / a comparative study _ College of law

The Private Law Branch at the College of Law at the University of Mosul discussed a master’s thesis on the maritime towing contract on Thursday, May 27, 2021. Part of it was attended by Assistant Professor Dr. WissamNemat Ibrahim Al-Saadi, Dean of the College, and Assistant Professor Dr. AjyadThamerNayef, Head of the Private Law Branch, and a number of members of the College Council and its teachers

The thesis submitted by the student ZainabAbdulelah Abdul Karim in the private law branch dealt with the maritime towing contract, which was not of importance in maritime legislation until recently, as it was no longer an exceptional matter as it was over the ages due to the huge size of the ship and the expansion of the volume of trade and maritime operations in the world Large ships need the help of other ships equipped to cross ports or lanes, as well as to rid them of dangers in the event of a sudden breakdown on the high seas

The study aims to provide a definition of the marine towing contract, which is a contract under which the towing ship supplier undertakes to pull, tow, or push the towed ship or maneuvers carried out by the towing ship to assist the towing ship and towing it from one place to another or for a limited period, whether inside or outside the ports, in exchange for an agreed upon fee or not agreed

The discussion committee was chaired by Assistant Professor Dr. Muhannad Ibrahim Ali, and the membership of Assistant Professor Dr. EssamDaoud, Assistant Professor Dr. Ali Shehab Ahmed, and the membership and supervision of Assistant Professor Dr. BushraKhaledTurki
