Master’s thesis in the branch of human rights law on the legal protection of the right to peaceful demonstration,,,
On Sunday, September 24, 2023, the Human Rights Law Branch at the College of Law at the University of Mosul discussed a master’s thesis on the legal protection of the right to peaceful demonstration, part of which was attended by Assistant Professor Dr. Wissam Nemat Ibrahim Al-Saadi, Dean of the College, and a number of members of the College Council and its teachers.
The thesis submitted by student Fanar Tariq Yassin in the Human Rights Law branch dealt with the right to peaceful demonstration, which is considered one of the basic human rights approved by divine laws and man-made laws. In addition, human history has witnessed many forms of assembly and organization among people, as it is one of the means of freedom of expression. Opinion is one of the important topics at all times and places and lies at the heart of any effective democratic system in which the people express a position, issue, or political or non-political opinion on the condition that public order and morals are maintained within the country.
The message aims to clarify that what is meant by peaceful demonstrations is for a group of individuals to gather in a specific place or move from it to another place, provided that that place is public, and to demand it through slogans and banners, organizing marches, and asking the official authorities in the state to carry out specific actions aimed at achieving the interest of the people. The right to peaceful demonstration is also one of the rights guaranteed by international legislation.
The discussion committee was headed by Professor Dr. Abdulaziz Ramadan Ali, the membership of Assistant Professor Dr. Khaleda Dhanoun Marei, the membership and supervision of Assistant Professor Dr. Shaima Abdel-Sattar Jabr.
