Workshop

Dr. Ahmed Faris Idris, Rapporteur of the Human Rights Law Branch at the College of Law at the University of Mosul, participated on Thursday, June 13, 2024, in the work of the workshop entitled ((Protecting women from violence in light of contemporary challenges)), which was held by the Women’s Empowerment Committee at the College of Engineering in cooperation with the Committee Women’s Empowerment at the College of Law and the Women’s Empowerment Unit at the Presidency of the University of Mosul on Thursday, 13 Hazbaran 2024. The workshop addressed the definition of violence against women and its dangers, methods, types, psychological and social effects, protection strategies, mechanisms for dealing with various forms of violence, and means of prevention from it.
The workshop also stressed the importance of spreading awareness about the legal mechanisms to reduce this phenomenon while strengthening and supporting cooperation between universities and concerned parties to reduce this phenomenon and its effects. The workshop witnessed a remarkable presence of male and female members of our university, and this activity comes in implementation of the third axis (protecting women and confronting the violence to which they are exposed). It is one of the axes of the national strategy for Iraqi women, according to the directives of the Women’s Affairs Department in the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research.
