Dr. Ahmed Faris, who teaches the Human Rights Law Department course at the College of Law at the University of Mosul, participated on Wednesday, November 13, 2024, in the work of the workshop entitled The Role of Educational Institutions in Spreading the Culture of Social Stigma / Drug Addicts as a Model, which was held by the College of Engineering, Department of Mechatronics Engineering, by giving a specialized scientific lecture that dealt with defining social stigma, its dangers, methods, and its impact on societal behaviors and drug addicts, and how to prevent it, with reference to the most important means of reducing it and how to deal with all its forms. The workshop also recommended the importance of spreading awareness about the legal and social mechanisms necessary to reduce this phenomenon, with support for cooperation through educational institutions, including universities, and to spread community awareness of the dangers of this phenomenon. The workshop witnessed the attendance of a number of members of the University of Mosul and its students. It is noteworthy that this activity aims to spread awareness and education towards social phenomena that affect student awareness, and its direct effects on societal security and stability.
