A scientific workshop on an analytical reading of UN Resolution 1325 on Women, Peace, and Security.
As part of the series of scientific, research, cultural, and student activities of the College of Law at the University of Mosul, the Women’s Affairs Committee at our college, in cooperation with the Women’s Affairs Unit at the University of Mosul Presidency, held a scientific workshop on Tuesday, July 15, 2025, entitled “An Analytical Reading of UN Resolution 1325 on Women, Peace, and Security.” The workshop featured the presentation of several research papers that addressed the mechanisms for women’s participation in establishing and consolidating peace and decision-making, and protecting them from violence in times of peace and conflict, in addition to the importance of involving them in humanitarian and relief work. The workshop also addressed the necessary preventive tools to provide protection for women, with deterrent legislation and laws and raising awareness of the societal role of women at the forefront of these preventive tools. The workshop highlighted the paragraphs of Resolution 1325 and its content, especially those related to pre-crisis proactive measures. It is worth noting that the workshop aims to embody the fifth goal of sustainable development related to gender equality and the tenth goal related to reducing inequalities. Equality and the sixteenth goal, which includes peace, justice, and strong institutions. The workshop witnessed a distinguished presence from a number of college members who asked numerous questions and inquiries about the topic, which were answered in detail by the organizers.
