Master’s Thesis in the Private Law Department on Licensing Contracts in Private International Law/A Comparative Study
On Tuesday, July 15, 2025, the Private Law Department at the College of Law at the University of Mosul discussed a master’s thesis on Licensing Contracts in Private International Law/A Comparative Study. Professor Dr. Abdulaziz Ramadan Ali, Dean of the College, and several members of the College Council and faculty members attended the discussion.
The thesis, submitted by student Shahd Salah al-Din Abdul Qadir in the Private Law Department, addressed the concept of licensing contracts, which play a pivotal role in the transfer of technology between countries, particularly from developed to developing countries. The thesis also highlighted the obligations arising from the above-mentioned contracts and their distinguishing characteristics, as well as their legal nature.
The thesis aims to demonstrate that international industrial licensing is a form of technology transfer contracts, whereby the right to exploit technical knowledge and the intellectual property rights contained therein is granted for a specified period of time, subject to specific terms and conditions, in exchange for periodic financial payments. The discussion committee was chaired by Professor Dr. Khalil Ibrahim Muhammad, with the membership of Assistant Professor Dr. Badran Shakib Abdul Rahman, Assistant Professor Dr. Raya Sami Younis, and the membership and supervision of Assistant Professor Dr. Wissam Tawfiq Abdullah.
