To the students of the University of Mosul in general, and the students of the College of Law in particular, on the occasion of the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking…
On this day, we renew our message of awareness and responsibility towards one of the most dangerous scourges threatening the individual and society: the scourge of drugs.
The university is not only a place of learning, but also a space for building awareness and an active arena for shaping the future. Our collective responsibility requires us to keep this space safe and pure from anything that threatens our potential and our dreams.
Why do we warn against drugs?
– Because they destroy our mental abilities and ruin our physical and mental health.
– Because they lead to addiction, which causes individuals to lose control over their lives, studies, and futures.
– Because they are a major cause of crime, increased traffic accidents, and the breakdown of family ties.
– Because the law criminalizes their use and trafficking, and imposes severe penalties, including imprisonment and hefty fines. Dear Law Students, you are the leaders of tomorrow and the guardians of justice. You bear a great responsibility to spread legal and health awareness among your peers and to stand against all that threatens society and its institutions. The future of justice begins with your awareness today. Help your fellow students and be a source of support for them, not a cause of their downfall.
Let’s make our university a safe place… and let our awareness be a weapon against addiction.
