Scientific seminar on the occasion of celebrating World Arabic Language Day

The College of Law at the University of Mosul Celebrates World Arabic Language Day with a Specialized Scientific Symposium

On the occasion of World Arabic Language Day, and in recognition of the prominent role of the Arabic language in legal and literary writing, the Dean’s Office of the College of Law at the University of Mosul held a special celebration that included a high-quality scientific symposium entitled “The Arabic Language Between Legal Text and the Poetics of Meaning.” This event was organized by the University’s Psychological Counseling Division in cooperation with the Department of Studies and Planning/Sustainable Development Unit at the University of Mosul.

The symposium highlighted the unique interplay between the precision of legal texts, which demands clarity and rigor, and the “poetics of meaning” that grants the Arabic language its flexibility and beauty. Participants discussed the importance of linguistic proficiency for legal professionals and judges to ensure the correct interpretation of legislative texts.

The seminar was held on Wednesday, December 24, 2025.

At the conclusion of the event, the college dean emphasized that holding such seminars is part of an ongoing effort to strengthen the cultural and linguistic identity of students and faculty. They considered the attendance of interested individuals and specialists a source of pride and support for the academic movement at the university, and a manifestation of the Sustainable Development Goals, particularly Goal 4: Quality Education.
